Custom Bleaching

If recommended, your cosmetic dentist will take impressions of your teeth and have custom bleaching trays made (typically ordered from a laboratory). Your custom bleaching trays will fit your teeth and your cosmetic dentist will make small adjustments on your follow up visit to ensure that they fit you as perfect as possible! The custom fit of your bleaching trays will ensure that whitening at home is as comfortable as possible. Your custom trays will help contain the bleaching gel on your teeth while helping to avoid the spread of the bleaching gel to your gums, cheeks, tongue and inner lips which are very sensitive.
Overuse of the whitening gel can spread the gel onto the soft tissues, creating irritation and sometimes sores so be careful to use the correct amount of bleaching gel. Sensitivity varies from person to person but it will usually end within 24 hours of whitening. If sensitivity lasts longer, it’s recommended to call your dentist.
